WheelMUD is, first of all, a MUD engine or MUD kit. This project main goal is to provide a MUD platform on which to build your universe.
My main vision of WheelMUD is to support multiple gaming genres. This includes the usual suspects like fantasy and fiction. Also, mysteries, science fiction, horror, western, and many others.
I want to have the ability to convert pencil and paper gaming systems, into a MUD format. There are many out there. Of the top of my head I can think of:
- Dungeons and Dragons
- RuneQuest
- ShadowRun
- Rifts
- Robotech
- BattleTech
- Star Fleet Battles
- Ogre
- World of Warcraft
- Final Fantasy
- Warhammer
- Aliens
- Munchkins
- All the different GURPS universes
I also want to support the ability to create totally custom gaming systems.
This is the reason why WheelMUD looks and feels the way it does.
I want WheelMUD to be a first-class Windows citizen. I would like to have both remote administration and remote Universe editing. This would help push WheelMUD to be a hosted platform, which can only help it to acquire more users and growth.
